Irma Jean Morris was born October 5, 1942 in Memphis, Tennessee, an only child to the late Albert Morris and Ninetta Scott.

She came to Cleveland via train with her late grandmother, Alberta Jackson and great grandmother, Exgene Latham – with whom she lived with at the age of four.

Irma Jean accepted Christ and was baptized at a young age.

Irma Jean received an education in Cleveland Public Schools.  She held various jobs in the city of Cleveland.  Independent Towel Supply, Crayton’s Sausage Company and R.L. Polk are a few companies for which she worked.  She retired after 20 years of service in 2014 from Applied Medical Technology, where she was a lead person responsible for shipment orders.

Irma Jean united in marriage to the late Leo Alexander in November 1963.  Six children were born to this union.  Prior to entering the working world, she devoted her life to raising her children, nurturing and cultivating with affection a never-ending supply of unconditional love to all.

Irma Jean enjoyed all life had to offer, lived life to the fullest and was the highlight of family and friend gatherings.  Her favorite pastimes included shopping, cooking, gardening, watching horses run, bingo, fishing and conversing with friends.

She departed this life the morning of March 22, 2016.

She leaves to mourn her passing, cherish her memory and continue her legacy: six children, Terreathe (David) Phillips, Clarreathe Alexander, Leola Alexander, Leon Alexander, Donald Alexander of Cleveland and Oneatha Alexander (Miss Penny as Mom so fondly called her) of Akron, Ohio.  One uncle, Thomas J. Murray of Memphis, TN; very special cousin, Jean Ingram of Memphis, TN and a host of cousins from Tennessee; her grandchildren including Michelle, Niquesha and Shavonne from Terreathe; Shealetta and Taikeisha from Clarreathe; Chiquita from Leola; Taylor, Larae and Leon Jr. from Leon; Eric and Dainna from Donald; 15 great grandchildren; beloved special friend, Willie Powell of many years; and a host of other relatives and special friends.
