Marvaline Harris, beloved daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend left many behind to mourn her on Wednesday, January 27, 2016. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ramona Shepherd, whom she loved dearly and missed every day of her life.

She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and resided there until she moved to Chicago, IL, upon her marriage to Virgil (Johnnie) Harris. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on August 5, 2011. Marvaline was a kind woman who gave generously to all she knew. She shared whatever she had with anyone she came in contact with. Her fortune was never measured in the physical possessions she owned but in the amount of love and kindness she was able to extend to others. She was a selfless person, one who endured a lot and per- severed despite the many obstacles that she had to overcome. It was the love she carried in her heart for family and friends that fulfilled her the most. The legacy that she leaves behind with us to face each day with a warm heart and a generous hand and to remember the love that God shows us each and every day and to always extend it to others.

Marvaline is survived by her husband of fifty five years; Johnnie Virgil Harris, son; Johnnie Jr. (Lorna) Harris, daughters; Sylvia Princess Harris, Angel Yvonne Harris and Ramona (Lorenzo) Knox, brother; Jerry (Sherrie) Shepherd, sisters; Diane (Mike) Rollins, Sharon Hubbard. She is also mourned by a host of nieces (Samantha Shepherd, Sheronda Shepherd, Sernethia Shepherd, Shonda Shepherd, Latrese Horne, Chanel Horne, Sharese Rollins (Robert James), and one nephew, Jerry Shepherd Ill. Her grandchildren, Damien Harris, Ashley Harris, Curtis Harris, Leland Hill, Ian Campbell, RaVon Wright, Joshua Hill, Antonio Harris, Esyla Wright, Phylicia Wright, Nefertiti Booth and 10 great-grandchildren. We will all miss her dearly. She was our beloved, the glue that held it together for us.
